#ADENAMADEMEDOIT Day 29

Challenge #29 - Find moments to be with you.

When we started this challenge we talked about how we fell in love with the people that we love so much. One of the biggest ways this love builds is spending time with them, that time creates the foundation of the relationship that you love so much. But I have talked to so many people who tell me that spending time with themselves is HARD.

When I did 40 new things for my 40th birthday, alot of them were things I had never done alone. Because I got married so young, I was never forced to stay at a hotel alone or go to the movies alone. When I decided to do these things I felt so awkward in the silence. I had to learn how to be in it and listen to what my heart was saying. I was going to therapy pretty regularly at that time and she helped me walk through ways to start being with myself. She had me set 3 alarms each day, one mid morning, mid afternoon and then in the evening. When my timer went off I stopped what I was doing for a minute and checked in. After having the alarms on a regular basis, I found myself checking in naturally. Like Adena was going "HEY YOUUU" and I was actually hearing her because I created a habit of giving her space.

Journaling, reflecting, yoga, meditation...there are so many quiet, obvious ways to spend intentional time with yourself. But I want to challenge you to find the one that works for you. I know for so many busy women, you would love to have the opportunity to sit in nature for 15 minutes a day, what a luxury! Haha! But maybe where you have to start is something smaller. For example, how many times do you touch water each day? Maybe its a shower, bathing your kids or just washing your hands. What if when you touch water is a reminder to check in with yourself. Take a breath, close your eyes, scrub for an extra 30 seconds and just be with you.

A great way to do this challenge is pick something that reminds you daily to check in and be with yourself (timer/water/journaling) AND schedule something that you can do in the coming weeks as a special time for yourself. Take yourself on a date, take a hike, get a massage. Just make sure you spend time alone with yourself.
