#ADENAMADEMEDOIT Day 7

DAY 7!! Today's challenge is all about bedtime. Having a routine for your evenings is so important. It helps you start to wind down, you get better sleep which leads to a more rested and less stressed morning to follow. Do you have an evening routine? If not, now is your chance to start building one. If you do, I want you to consider adding to it!

There are a million things you can do during an evening routine, I'll name a few here, but every person is going to need/want something different.

No screens after a certain time.

Stretch.

Meditate.

Read.

Drink tea.

Journal.

Dim the lights.

Take a bath.

Skin care.

Plan for the next day.

Any of these things and other things can create a combo that is perfect for helping you wind down & rest better.

When I started creating my PM routine I had to start with just walking away from my computer. My husband works evenings so I find myself at my desk finishing up emails and editing and I really love my job which means sometimes I would be checking things off my list and all of the sudden its 10:38pm. Oops. At that point starting a PM routine would put me in bed too late so I would just crawl in and hope to go to sleep, I'm sure you can figure out how that went. So I set a bedtime timer on my phone for 9pm. Do I go to bed at 9pm? No, I'm actually quite the night owl if I don't have some accountability I would be miserable every morning. But that alarm signals to me to walk away from the computer or don't even think about heading down there if I think of something that needs to be done, it can be done tomorrow morning. From that point on, I'm in wind down mode. Some of my favorite PM routine things are washing my face & doing the skin care goods. I got some of those little towel scrunchies that go on your wrist because I always hated how much of a 'mess' I made splashing water around (these things are genius ). I dim the lights in my room. I like my room to feel like a dark dungeon even when its daytime so at night I really don't want lights on. I have a bedside lamp and a whole row of remote control LED candles that give me the perfect amount of light. I love to journal but I have found that to be more of an AM thing, like it gets me hyped up and excited. Instead, I love to read at night, its a great way to turn my type A brain off when all I really want to do is check another thing off a list. I'm excited to add something else to my list that might just be the cherry on top! I'm thinking tonight I'll have some tea while I read.

What can you add to your PM routine? Will you commit to showing up for yourself in the evenings?
