Wait, my boudoir photos as art? YIKES!
I asked my Instagram followers if they would display their photos and 76% of them said YES! But I wanted to make a case for the 24% that said NO WAY! (By the way, if you don’t follow me on Instagram, head over and get on it! I think you’ll love what you see!)
First of all, its important to point out that it doesn’t have to be the sexiest photo you loved from your session. Although it totally can be! Questions to ask yourself…
- Where do I want to hang it?
- What kind of art do I want?
- Who will see it?
- How do I want to feel when you see your art?
WHERE?
Most of my clients choose to hang their boudoir art in their bedroom or bathroom. Sometimes its the perfect piece to hang above a bathtub, sit on a table with your makeup, display above your bed, or even pop in your closet as inspiration when you’re getting dressed in the morning.
WHAT ART?
I always suggest the Blush & Tease matte glass art. It is absolutely STUNNING! If your photo is hung on a wall, it doesn’t reflect any light, so its beautiful in any room. If it is in a stand, the light actually shines through the photo! It is so beautiful to see the photo change throughout the day in a windowsill or you can place a candle behind it to bring even more moody character to the art.
WHO’S GOING TO SEE IT?
Ok, I totally understand this fear. And its different for every client! So let me give you some suggestions that might change your mind. Choose a photo that is more of a headshot that just reminds you how beautiful you are. Eyes sparkling, big smile, all the self love. You can also choose something anonymous or more artistic. These photos usually catch a second glance because they are beautiful but the viewer doesn’t necessarily know that its YOU in the photo. Or just freaking embrace it. This is my favorite! Be ready for the “Is that you?! WOAH!”, said in total awe. And what better place then above your bed…you see where I’m going with this one!
HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL?
This is a question I always ask when we are choosing one of your boudoir photos to display.
“I want to wake up in the morning and be reminded that I can conquer the world.”
“I want to remember how I felt the day of my shoot…stunning and carefree.”
“When I look at the art I want to be reminded of my sexuality, even though I’m a working mom, I’m also a super sexy woman.”
Do you see how we would pick different photos for all of these?
