Let it go. – Denver Boudoir Photographer

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m a CONTROL FREAK. Ok, don’t act like you already knew that. I see you nodding your head! No really though. Why do you think I love boudoir photography and weddings scare the lights out of me? Boudoir is controlled. We have a planning meeting, we execute. Gorgeous poses, flattering light, perfect hour, never fails.

But there is something about a creative that can’t just be happy with control and perfection. So I decided to play.

I invited Chelsea (and her sister…see previous blog post) to my boudoir studio in Denver for something a little different. I wanted her to dance. There is something about a dancer when they are moving that is so beautiful. Breathtaking. Creative. Graceful. I could go on forever! But more then anything…FREE. Now here is my challenge. Let it go. And capture it as it happens. And let me tell you, that set ME free! I will never forget this experience and hopefully there are many more like it to come!

But since it’s Friday, I figured it would be nice to hear from the dancer herself. And what she had to say left me in tears…this is why I do what I do. I love every single word of this feedback and every single inch of this beautiful woman!

“I feel very fortunate to have had such an amazing opportunity to do a dance photoshoot with the absolutely amazing Adena with Blush and Tease photography. When I saw these photos I wept because I literally have never seen myself more beautiful. Adena was able to portray the feeling I feel every time I dance within a photo and I can’t explain how special that is. Now I get to see what others see when I am dancing and what I saw was joy. In each photo I see how dance sparks every sense in my body, and every nerve tingles with the pure love I have for the sport. There is this saying that Theodore Roosevelt once said and that is “Comparison is the thief of joy”. When I took these photos it was just me and the camera. There were no other dancers to compare myself to, no one to put me down, no one to take my joy, and for once in my life I felt more than enough. I was able to give all of me without the influence of others. All I can say is this experience only made me fall more in love with the sport I fell in love with as a little girl. Thank you, thank you, thank you Adena.” -Chelsea
